Powderface Creek – Prairie Link – Prairie Creek Hike
Where:
- Powderface Creek – Prairie Link – Prairie Creek Trail
When:
- April 27, 2025
Who:
- Ed, Dave, Erin, Kellie, Oak, Rod, Dally, Neil, Kardy
Trailhead:
- 20 minutes (23 km) south (Highway 22) and west (Highway 66) of Bragg Creek
- the parking lot is on the right-hand side just past the Elbow Falls parking lot
- the trailhead starts out of the far left side of the parking lot and follows Powderface Creek for 4 km before turning right onto Prairie Link and over the hill to Prairie Creek, where you turn right again to head back towards the parking lot
Degree of difficulty:
- 455 meters elevation
- 12.2 km
- the hike took us three hours
- the trail is somewhat gentle, with a few moderate climbs along the way
Interesting notes:
- I have biked this trail many times in the past, but this was the first time I have hiked it
- the trail can be done in either direction, but most people take the clockwise route, following the steeper Powderface Creek trail before descending on the more gradual Prairie Link trail
- the views were limited on this low cloud and misty day, but they include Prairie Mountain, Powderface Mountain, and a few other smaller mountains
